The Importance of Backing Up Arch Retail

Ensuring Arch Retail is backed up daily is essential for protecting your store’s operations. The backup contains your transaction records, product and pricing data, supplier information, and system configuration—everything needed to keep your retail environment running smoothly.
A current backup helps ensure:
✅ Business continuity in the event of system failure or damage
✅ Protection from data loss due to power outages, corruption, or malware
✅ Quick recovery in case of theft, natural disaster, or civil unrest
✅ Peace of mind knowing your store data is safe and retrievable
It’s also important to have an offsite backup, either by rotating USB drives daily—with the manager taking one off-site overnight and replacing it the next morning—or by using a cloud backup service. This helps prevent data loss due to fire, theft, or flooding.
Where to Check the Last Backup Date
You can view your last successful backup in Arch Retail. Here's how to interpret what you’re seeing:
Backup is Up to Date
This means the last backup was completed successfully, and the date is recent.
What it means:
No action needed — your backup is active and up to date.
Backup is Behind
This screen indicates that the backup is several days behind or possibly not running at all.
What it means:
Your data is at risk. Take immediate action to perform a manual backup or escalate to your IT team. The longer the delay, the greater the risk of losing critical data.
v27 (Latest Version) with Backup Up to Date
If you’re using Version 27, your interface may look slightly different, but the backup status remains visible. This screenshot confirms that the system is up to date.
What it means:
You’re running the latest version of Arch, and your backups are being maintained correctly.
